Delvin’s return to the Sunshine Coast

If you’re connected to One Straw Society’s long history, you also know how entwined Delvin Solkinson has been for the past 20 years. He’s grown into an internationally recognized permaculture educator and mentor, learning, working and teaching around the world, and he just happens to have moved back from New York to our very own Sunshine Coast.

Lucky us. Robin would be so pleased to see this happening today.

We’ve been working with Delvin & Grace the past few months to bring you collaborative permaculture education and connections. It’s time!

Elphinstone Permaculture Design Certificate Course

Coming this year!

Join a group of like-minded people for a year-long focus project, and with this team, knowledge and mentorship, build a map and design for a meaningful place (garden or home). Together, we’ll learn about how nature designs itself and how we can become more effective decision makers and designers ourselves. We’ll:

  • Visit amazing local gardens, farms and forest locations including One Tiny Farm and EdenForest.
  • Do practical hands on activities including unique food preservation, medicine making and homesteading skills.
  • Learn through interactive discussions and games instead of formal lectures.

Most of the course happens outside in nature, happening once a month on Saturdays

Your guides: Delvin & Grace Solkinson and local guest teachers

Delvin co-designed and co-built the Heart Gardens in Roberts Creek, co-led a team building learning gardens at many Sunshine Coast elementary schools and public places, and has taught Permaculture Design Certificate Courses in the Elphinstone Rainforest with the support of One Straw Society since co-teaching the program with Robin Wheeler in the mid 2000’s.

Grace grew up on a small family farm in Washington State. She has learned & taught permaculture internationally. Her extensive experience with animals, homesteading skills, green building food preservation and medicine enrich the course. Together they form a dynamic male-female teaching team.
